During the summer of 2017, I interned at Time Inc. on the Research & Insights team for News brands

and learned the ins & outs of all things research! Coming straight (literally the weekend after) from a six-month design role, I was excited to see more of the UX research side.  I'm always fascinated by all things news, journalism and media so it was incredible to meet and work alongside editor-in-chief's of magazines that I admired. Much of my summer was spent either:

  • conducting research (planning for focus groups, writing surveys, facilitating discussion groups)

  • analyzing research (theme mapping survey findings, synthesizing handwritten participant homework, linking current research with past)

  • evolving key findings into valuable recommendations (slide presentations, persona and journey mapping, full research memos + tldr's;)

I also spent time shadowing various Design and Product teams learning about their design process, the challenges they face, where they might envision the future of design and user experience in journalism and the role research can play in the work they do. So many insightful conversations and new ways of looking at the world were shared over coffee - the people I met this summer, from writers to illustrators, to the guy who walks Kim Kardashian down red carpets all shaped this internship to be profoundly valuable by the end of the summer! :)

Due to confidentiality of the data gathered, I can't share files of the work I generated - feel free to reach out to learn more!
